Like to help

How about, instead of a “like” on twitter being a relatively worthless thumbsup, that instead it actually helped the person the tweet originated from.

How about we (you and I) hold something like $10, $20 or more in escrow with “a service” (that we can trust) and every time I like a tweet, a preset amount is deducted from my account and given to the person who posted the tweet. Something simple and easy like 25¢.

It would only pay out for people who had already signed up to the service, so some “likes” would be free, and others would slowly chip away at my account.

This way, someone with something important to say, or someone with consistently little important things to say, is supported for their content.
